i had a similar long investigation to figure out why I had asthma starting either menopause or pause. finally it also was related to overly dry mucosa….i ultimately solved the asthma with triphala as it supports the large intestine however i do know how good marsh mallow is and how wonderful it is for feeding the gut. but i struggle to find a way to take it? how did you take the marshmallow? capsules or tea?

Hi Natasha! We have listened to some of your herb hunter audio pieces in the past and really enjoyed them. The way I take marshmallow is cold infusion -- I started out with a half cup of dried root in a pint of cold water. I let it sit for 6 hours or so, then strain. I split that amount up over the course of a day, drinking it around meal times. I have recently reduced the amount by about half, but it still seems to be working in the same way. It is easy to drink, very mild in flavor.

oh great! yes, i loved the article and was lucky enough to study with mathew wood and also very much enjoy the wisdom of all the herbalists you mentioned. we are very lucky in the usa to have such a robust outlier community. okay, so the reason I dont take marshmallow is because for some reason I have strong resistance to the infusion. however i have a pound of mountain rose marshmallow powder and will encapsulate to see if it hits compliance!!!!! and will report back on success or not.

also did you know that a second boiled infusion of linden creates a real gloopy demulcent concoction? a contradiction to the great mucilaginous herbs need to be cold defused, some of the minutia of herbalism that I love.

one of the things i loved re the article was the how you acknowledged how often formulas and herbs just dont sit right feel right and we dont need to think about why to much! so important that e know that our bodies know!
